Pardon my ignorance but where are QCYC/NYC?

Greetings All,
I am currently in the market for a new truck and trying to balance gas mileage with towing capacity. Can anyone tell me what the weight of a C&C Mk III is?
I have a dual axle trailer that I use for local hauling of the boat for spring crane-in and fall crane-out but am looking at taking Hotel California down to Lake Superior (Thunder Bay - 400 hwy km) next summer and don't know whether it would be more economical just to rent a larger pickup for a couple of days or spec my new truck out to haul the boat and my travel trailer which has a GVRW of 4950 lbs.

As I brush the latest blast of winter fury off of Hotel California, I am beginning to think about using an Asymetric Spinnaker this summer for ease of use with rotating crew members during Wednesday night races. Has anyone rigged one and have some helpful hints? It appears that we would have to use an "inside" jibe as there is limited attachment points in front of the foresaty. I do not have roller furling.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

Greetings from Hotel California,
Now that the boat is on the hard and I am putting together the list of winter projects, I need some advice on stanchions. I have the 7/8" SS sticks with the eye on top for the 1/4" upper lifeline and the lower holes for the 1/8" lines. The stanchions are showing their age with a couple of them bent at the base and I have not been able to find a decent 1/8" lower life line. So I am contemplating swithching the six stanchions to 1" with a 1/4" upper and 3/16 or 1/4 lower.
Before starting down this road, I would appreciate any input from those that have undertaken a similar conversion.
Interestingly, there is a 1980 Mk III in our harbour that has the 1" stanchions and the owner indicated that they were on the boat when he bought it.
Six months to crane-in...

I have been experiencing the same problem with my Martec folding prop and was planning on removing it after haul out in the fall and sending it out for a rebuild. I can send it to Martec in California but would prefer to send it somewhere in Canada for the work. Has anyone used a good shop for this purpose?

Greetings All,
During my vacation next week I am going to install rope clutches on the cabin roof just forward of the winch. A preliminary peek indicates that there is no balsa core between the interior liner and the fiberglass cabin top. Any suggestions on how to fill this void with an appropriate amount of epoxy to facilitate the drill-fill-drill approach for mounting the clutches?

Hi Mike,
I am very interested in the foil, but I am not sure how to measure the wire (tape) size on my headsails. Presently, I have a dual slot aluminum foil that is showing its age and I am not sure if this was standard rigging or an option in 1979.
Can anyone help on this one?

Further to this information request, the stanchion bases on my Mk III are 1" and the stanchions are 7/8" with a plastic insert to take up the extra space. These inserts are showing their years and I have been searching for a replacement at auto parts stores (nylon bushings) plumbing shops, etc. but have not been able to find anything suitable.
Suggestions?

I was interested in hearing the replies to your comment on the boat having just an outboard as this has become an issue at our club as it relates to PHRF's. We have some boats in the 27-28 foot range that run only outboards even though typical models have inboards which adds that nice 500-600 pounds in the stern (engine, fuel, batteries) that may be helpful in big wind but we typically race in light wind and these big plastic tubs with tiny outboards hanging off the back end up kicking our butts more often than not. There is a feeling among some at the club that there should be some adjustment to the PHRF rating for these rascals.

Obviously getting itchy to get on the water as our annual crane-in is scheduled for Saturday. I was looking at upgrading the engine control on the Edson pedestal base to replace the steel stick that protrudes out of the left side of the binnacle and the well worn throttle lever on the right side. I checked the Edson web page and they have "kits" but I am not sure if these are compatible with the original equipment from 1979.
Thanks in advance. The Marshall's
