For keeping halyards out of the way, I obtained mesh bags to mount on the cabin surface next to the hatch. The mounting method was suction cups ( to avoid drilling more holes) but these were inadequate. I then tried velcro sticky back strips, but these are not holding well. One of my crew recently owned a C&C35 and his solution was a bag that had grommets like those in sail covers and the "male" ends are then mounted into the interior cabin roof section which has a vertical face where the sliding roof rails are mounted. So drilling holes there are less of a problem. And the bags and excess halyards are out of the way and not just dangling inside the cabin.
So, the question is- has anyone done this on a Mark V? Are there other solutions to halyard storage?copasetic
I too, have been looking for a better way to store these lines, both when underway and in the slip. I'd really like to see some photos, if that's possible.

I have three expandable bags on each side of the narrow vertical section immediately below the sliding hatch. They are mounted on a rectangular piece of rigid canvas which is held in place by four press studs ( pop studs?)along its top edge, the male section of which is attached to the boat by Philips-headed screws. The press studs are heavy duty and easily hold the weight of the lines/sailing gloves/ phones/wallets/sun glasses etc which are hiding in them.
It works well while sailing, but the lines can't be there once the hatch is closed.

A photo would be great. I have heard of a similar mounting whose male partners are the studs used to fit through grommets on sail covers. And the bags have the required grommets.
Now, I have to find the bags with the grommets and the male partners.

Richard, I'll send some pictures of the bags which are on SMOKE, which may be helpful. Not being a computer wizard I will send them to our wonderful Admin, with a request that he pause from stirring boiling lava with lightning bolts and somehow relay them to you and others who may be interested.
