Aragorn's Traveller

Aragorn owner Clare Jordan calls this a "poor man's windward sheeting traveller". Note the run of the 1/4" cross-haul line – by pulling on the length closest to the companion, the helmsman pulls the traveller to weather, locking it in the leeward cleat. Before a tack, he or she also locks the line in the weather cleat, immobilizing the car. On the new tack, the helm frees the new weather cleat as he or she pulls the car up.

This track is mounted on top of the original track because removing the old proved too difficult. The old track was drilled and tapped for mounting screws. The additional height has not proved a problem.
