Underside of the Bridgedeck 2Looking upward into a Mk III/Mk IV bridgedeck. The presence of a bulkhead (top of photo; bottom is the forward end of the cockpit) renders access more difficult. The machine screws and aluminum backing strip are the underside of the traveller assembly. The space is very tight, but an average-size man can get his hand in the gap to put the nuts on the machine screws. A socket wrench, ideally with an extension, is essential for running up the nuts. About half of the nuts are visible and relatively easily reachable from the cockpit lockers. |
