Hi ClearSailing,
I bought my MK V three years ago from R.I. area. Boats seem to be 'more affordable' in your neighbourhood. Perhaps C&C's are not as well known there? I know the seller of my boat advertised (Toronto Craigslist) in the Toronto area because he knew there is a strong following here. Also, salt water boats tend to lose some value - unwarranted in many cases, especially as mine came with a brand new engine.
I suggest you post pictures and all the details on a website, Craigslist, Kijiji and as many other sites as you can - including Yacht Clubs. Send us the link by reply to this post. At that price, you're sure to sell it if it's in reasonable shape.
My boat, according to this website, was the last MK V built in Rhode Island - sail no. 610. It now lies at National Yacht Club in Toronto.
What sail number are you?
