For the first time ever our Marina requires us to mark where they will place the slings when they haul out our C&C 27. Of course they say that if you are not sure then we should check with the Manufacturers now that is funny.
Any and all advice is greatly welcome and of course appreciated.

What I would do ..is print out a picture of your boat from the log in screen, mark it up where you think the sling should go... try not to put the rear sling on the prop shaft... go out to your boat and with a bit of colored tape mark the waterline...then hand the picture to the lift operator..... keep a couple of copies for yourself.

Most crane and travellift operators like to pick a boat up at or near a bulkhead, subject to that location not being near the cradle pads (particularly if the pads are not readily movable). For most 27's, the stern sling position is right at the forward end of the cockpit. Although best spot for the bow sling is at the forward end of the keel, this is where the bow pads normally are located, so it's normal to shoot for the aft end of the forward hatch.
Crane and travellift operators may be looking down on your boat when hauling or up from the ground when launching, so consider marking across the top of the toe-rail so the sling positions can be seen clearly from above or below. This is the best insurance against being picked up by the prop shaft.

You don't really need a diagram - the text descriptions on the diagram do the job with equal or greater clarity. They say that the forward sling goes at the aft side of the forward hatch and the aft sling goes at the aft face of the bridge deck. However, these basic settings may be modified by the need to avoid setting the slings right at the cradle pads. For a first-time haul-out, you might want to put on temporary marks, then set the permanent marks so the slings are well clear of the pads and the prop shaft (avoiding the shaft is the greatest imperative - you can always juggle the boat a bit with respect to pads, but picking the boat up by the shaft gets expensive).
