Hello all,
My main halyard is stuck part way up. I can't get it to move in either direction. Has anybody else had this problem, or am I the only one in the world? Any suggestions? Thanks,
Bill

The halyard has probably jumped the sheave or the axle has worn to the point that it has sheared. You'll have to go up to clear it. If the halyard has jumped the sheave, that means the sheave or the box it runs in is sufficiently worn as to create a gap that the halyard could jump into, because normally, there isn't room. Unfortunately, you may have a bit of work to do.

Thanks for the reply. I have rounded up someone braver than I to go up tomorrow. We'll see what the damage is.
Cheers, Bill
