Any owners of a Mark III - would you happen to know your mast height (top to bottom). I measured mine and it is 35' 9". Does this sound short?

I have the same height on my Mark III
What a relief! THANK-YOU. I gather the "I" that is stated at 37' is from deck level, I never really looked into that. Dean
Dave,
It's always a relief to find that you're not too short.

I may (or may not) be speaking for those of us with MK I or MK II boats but we preferred to be referred to as "differently masted". <IMG src="http://www.cc27association.com/f3/toast/emoticons/icon_cheesygrin.gif" border=0>

The "I" is a perpendicular measurement and relatively easy to do. It is taken from the centreline of the masthead sheave to the deck at the toe rail in the plane of the mast. There is two tricky bits. You have to make an adjustment from the base of the shackle where it hits the sheave to where the sheave centerline actually is. Usually there is some wear and tear mark on the halyard that indicates where the adjustment begins. At best this is a guess.
Next measure to the top of the mast step and record the number. With a staight edge across the top of the mast step measure down to the toe rail. The trick is to measure both port and starboard and take the average of the two measurements. (I have measured about 30 C&C 27's of all marks and you'd be amazed at how much variation there is from port to starboard).
Add the shackle adjustment, the distance to the top of the mast step and the average of the two straight edge measurements to the deck and the "I" will be so damned close to the C&C specs you wish you never asked.....MURR
Thanks (cassia): I thought I was getting the shaft - since I now know that I have the proper mast - guess there are no excuses now. Dean.
what are you rating in your club?
ASPN 107 - Base handicap.
I'll go to 106 - 2 bladed prop
Looking for a folding one because I think the prop has enough drag to be 2 points.
