"Because there's precious little counter space on a 27, I made this fold-up/fold-down shelf which is hinged to the bulkhead right beside the stove and at the same level as the counter top.

A "prop" hinged to the bulkhead swings outward from behind the shelf to support it when it is raised to the in-use position. A hook and eye keep the shelf from banging about in a seaway when it is folded down." – Clare Jordan
