Persistence's tiller 1

Persistence's owner, John Graeb, didn't like the original tiller and so fitted a J/24-pattern tiller from Layline.com. Better looking and better handling, this tiller has a raised inboard end that he found much easier to steer with whether sitting in the cockpit or on the coaming. John cut about two inches from the outboard end to yield a comfortable length.

The black tube on the starboard coaming is the mount for the autopilot (it dismounts when not in use). Its tiller attachment pin is visible on the tiller midpoint.
