Bulhead Rot on a 1976 27MKIII

Howdy all,
Has anyone had this problem.  I have had a leak that I finally stopped that caused bulkhead rot at the top of the starboard bulkhead where the chainplate connects.  I have had it looked at by some pros but the price is steep to scarf in a chunk of bulkhead (I have been told about $2500).  I have had one guy who says that it is easier to dig out the rot and fill it with epoxy and then paint the bulkhead and just as structurally sound if not more so (this is slightly less money).  I want to have a good job done but I dont want to break the bank.  Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks  Joe

Whatever repair is done, it's likely to involve epoxy, so why don't you visit the Gougeon Brothers site and see if there is any information there. The Gougeons, who make West System epoxy, even offer a telephone number to call to talk with one of their applications people. I would do that before anything else (and certainly before anyone starts to "dig out" anything).

Please report back to us on what was suggested and how it turns out.
