Getting a Chalky white hull shiny again?

Any recommendations?

Take a rubbing compound (like 3M Imperial), a buffer with a fresh pad, and a few hours.  Follow with wax.  Amazing results!  Note:  don't hold the buffer too long in one place or you may 'burn' the gelcoat.  Keep it moving.

The 3M rubbing compound is the best - and readily available at any auto parts house.  The trick for applying is to apply the compound evenly directly to the hull with a paint brush, and work into it with the buffer.  Get a good buffing wheel as well as the "rake" designed to clean it - you will need it.

If you are new to buffing compounds please be aware that they come in a wide variety of grits.  Some of the heavy grits are great for quick removal of 25 years of oxidation----but far to agressive once you get through the bad stuff.  If you still have gelcoat left---try finishing with multiple coats of plain old fashioned CARNUBA (generic) wax--the paste stuff.
When all is lost---the fancy paints like Awl Grip and Imron and Interthane---et al---are really great---even rolling and tipping gives very good results----not 25 yrs worth----but 5-10 yrs for sure.
My mk3 has Awl Grip (3 yrs ago) and it still looks great---even considering our brutal sun in Fl.
Good luck---Dave Tinder
