While I've got the time on the hard, I've pulled the prop shaft for inspection and to replace the visibly old and tired stuffing box hose
to my disbelief, the vast majority of marine supply stores do not carry the correct hose for the application
it is suggested that a minimum of 4 ply hose be used and not the more common 2 ply marine exhaust hose. Sure the marine exhaust hose can be substituted and I believe that's what I removed, but in the case of a sink or float item, I think the answer is quit obvious.
Think it's round two on Monday to some marine fitters/service shops to get the "right stuff"

If the marine fitters/service folk can't help, suggest try a company that services/supplies trucking firms. Cheers.
