Since I rarely add a new page to the body of the site, I thought it worth announcing. To the 979 C&C 27's we know were built, we can add over 620 Trappers in the UK and a mystery number in Austria. Yes, a mystery! Also a bit of info on a 27 configuration that will surprise many.

Eureka and thank you. Perhaps we will hear from some 'missing' 27's in Europe?
The town of Eastbourne, in SE England, after years of tipped-over single-keel boats, built a large, enclosed boat harbour with a water level which is maintained between high and low tides. The lock has a deep and buoyed approach from The Channel, so if you enter it at low tide it LIFTS you to harbour level, but if you enter at high tide it LOWERS you to harbour level. Sounds like something the Romans developed.
It totally confounds the bilge keel gang.....and most first time users.

You'll see a similar arrangement in St Malo, where the tidal range is something on the order of 7 meters, not far off the Fundy tides (they have a tidal power dam just up the estuary that generates power from both the ebbing and flowing tides). Unlike the Eastbourne arrangement you describe, though, when St Malo's gates close, they're closed until the tide has risen to some target height. As they say in the parking lots, 'no in-and-out privileges'.
