Mk V Forward Bilge Drainage

Does anyone know how any water entering the bilge forward of the main cabin bulkhead drains? There do not appear to be any limber holes to allow drainage to the keel sump.

Re: Mk V Forward Bilge Drainage

Search back through messages for "mkv" and "drain" - I think there was a discussion of this a while back in which the consensus was that some boats have drains, others don't.

Re: Mk V Forward Bilge Drainage

My thanks,I spent yesterday going through every post on the Forum, and found the discussion you refer to. (I had looked before posting, but, as is often with 'Searches' I didn't use the right 'key' words.) The boat that I am looking at appears to have the small drain hose to the sump but poking with a screw driver suggests that it is blocked. Poking with an old wire halyard that I use to clean my house drains will hopefully be successful.

Hi
that little hose is all the drainage there is when the boat is level, although when you heel water will find its way from under the liner in the bow to under the liner just forward of the engine.
The hose in Distant Thunder was blocked when I bought the boat - a wire coat hanger unblocked if.

In the boat that I am looking at (Hull #108 I think) it is at the top of the forward face of the bilge sump on the port side.

Re: Mk V Forward Bilge Drainage

The drainage hose  runs from somewhere under the liner under the head to the forward top edge of the bilge.  It drains all water accumulated under the liner from the head and V berth.

Early boats (1st year production???) did not have the hose.
