Backstay adjustment chart

First of all, I appreciate ALL the advice & information I have gleened from the website.  Many, many thanks to all those who keep it up and those who contribute.

Now, has anyone put together a backstay adjustment chart?  I know you are supposed to get a "feel" for it, but I am having a hard time doing that and would appreciate at least a starting point.  If we considered 0 = NO backstay, 1 = some, 2 = medium, and 3 = a lot; what would the adjustment be for:

light wind (0-8;  medium wind (9-16),  heavy wind (17-25)?

If you are close hauled?   beam reach?   Run ?

Spinnaker reach?  Spinnaker run?

rough seas?  calm seas?  /  power up (go through waves)?  Power down (smooth sailing)?

Anything else?

Many Thanks,

Re: Backstay adjustment chart

The notion of a backstay adjustment chart only makes sense if you first establish the initial tension for the backstay and forestay.  You may also need to factor in the amount of mast rake.
