I would like to install a pad eye with ring to the mark V mast to carry my whisker pole. Our local shop is not familiar with the mark V mast. One option is to use a length of spinnaker pole track. My mast has a slot which looks like it could accomodate some sort of custom spinnaker track, but it doesn't seem properly sized for a standard harken or schaefer track which are designed for a flat surface- not a slot. the other option is to use a pad eye; but the commercial pad eyes do not seem to have the curvature that would match the curvature of the mast.

Don't know if this will help, but I looked at some photos of my Mk V mast. It has a 4 or 5 foot length of track mounted to the mast, with a pad eye on a slider on the track. It can be moved up or down and has a little round spring loaded "peg" to fasten it at the selected height. I cannot tell from my photos if the track is in a groove, or just flush mounted to the mast. I do not believe it has any curvature though. This track was factory installed. If you think a photo might help, let me know. Or, the winter cover will be coming off in 2 or 3 weeks. I could give you more info after that.

It all depends on when and where the boat was built, Canada or Us. But in most cases the Spinnaker Pole fitting on the mast was a specific slider that fitted either outside (early boats) or inside the mast extrusion. your best bet is to contact South Shore Yachts, they likely have the part you are looking for. Call them rather than emailing, you can get their contact info here on the web site.

Re my earlier comment, my boat was built in the Rhode Island plant in late 1986 as a 1987 model.

I had the same problem, and the folks at South Shore Yachts were able
to get the right slider for me. It fits inside the groove on the
leading edge of the mast. All I had to do was cut away the portion of flexible material (rubber/plastic?). It works great as it was designed for the boat. Much better than having something fabricated for you.
thanks everyone- the "cinkel" slider spinnaker pole fitting has made it from south shore to CT and is on my Mark V. Here is the question- there are two ways to insert it (1) pad-eye above the stopper bolt (2) stopper bolt above the pad-eye. I have a 50-50 chance of getting this right. What is the preferred set-up?copasetic
I have mine set up with the pad-eye on top (stopper on bottom). That way my foredeckman can reach it easily at any time and make adjustments as needed.
Between late p.m. Thursday 19 Aug and 3 p.m. Tuesday 24 Aug someone heisted my near-new whisker pole. It was clipped on deck....stupid of me I know, as I normally have it below deck.
It is a Forespar 7/15' unit, 3 sections, 2" diameter, not even 2 month old.
It has ballpoint lines marking the allowed extension for a Mk 5 with a 155% genoa. If anyone has someone approach them with 'a real deal' on such a whisker pole please trap them somehow....who, where etc, and let me know. It was nearly a $500 item and much missed.

Problem solved. I have my whisker pole back and all is well. I now know that a newish pole will float for several hours before sinking to the bottom of the lake.............those sliding joints between the three sections, as well as the end fittings, are near waterproof....amazing!!

For what it's worth, my whisker pole is fabricated from a carbon fiber wind surfer mast. The rigger installed the fittings on the ends and connected the 2 sections of the mast by the use of an internal shock cord so the sections can be "separated" to make below decks storage convenient. But the sections are still together and can ' t really separate. The pole is amazingly light and strong compared to aluminum versions.copasetic
