Mk V Main

I am pondering a new main for my Mk V.  Does anyone have any experience/thoughts/advice about a full batten main, or a loose footed main for this boat?  Or would I be best off to just replace it with a "traditional" main like it came with?  I use the boat for cruising, day saling, and it will be in a few fun races occassionaly.  (and every time another boat is in sight!) I have a version of lazy jacks that I deploy to drop sail, then they retract (my own design), so full batten would be nice for that reason, but more important is how the sail would perform on this boat.  Thanks.

Re: Mk V Main

we race the boat - top two battens are full, bottom two regular.

when in doubt ask your sailmaker.

Re: Mk V Main

our Mark V came with a loose-footed/  regular batten main (made by UK). The loose-footed feature is great for keeping the  nice shape of the main right down to the boom.

could you post the design of the retracting lazy jacks onto the site?

happy sailing for 2009 to all. copasetic

Re: Mk V Main

Thanks for the info.

I could take some photos of my lazy jacks in the spring and post them.  Its a very inexpensive rig, and works very well.
