Mk V Stanchion base re-bedding

any insights on the markV plastic stanchion base? it looks like the
inboard screws are through the deck. should they be re-bedded?

[Moved from a discussion about Mk I-IV boats. It's not a good idea to try to shift a topic from the earlier boats to the Mk V (or vice versa). If the topic has already seen a few posts, the people with the knowledge to answer your question, the Mk V owners, will know the topic isn't about their boats and they'll have stopped reading additions, so you get ignored. Start a new topic and label it to foreground the distinction. - Admin]

Yes, you are correct.  the Inboard bolts are through the deck and come inside the cabin.  YES they do need to be bedded.  The two out-board bolts go through the rail. They too are tricky to access because of the rubber rail going around the boat.

the good news is that the inner bolt holes are in solid glass.  No chance of balsa rot.

So, as far as I am concerened - if they don't leak, don't bother.

Good to hear they go into solid glass and rot is not a problem.  If one were to rebbed the inboard bolts, how would one get at them under the liner?
