Rudder

Lifted my C&C27MIII 1980 sept 18
Doing the cleaning and inspection to do plans for maintenance, I noticed that there is an up-down movement of 1/4'' on the rudder shaft. Is it correctable or is it ok that way?
Thank's

Re: Rudder

If your boat is tiller-steered, the movement is probably caused by wear on the c-shaped nylon bearing surface under the tiller-head. You can buy one from South Shore Yachts or make your own from sheet nylon as I did.

Re: Rudder

I forgot to mention, It is a wheel, not a tiller. On the floor where there is the emergency attachement for the helm there is what I see as a retaining ring around with three allen key type of bolts or should I check under the cockpit floor. Having had the boat for four years, this is one part of it that is still to be discovered.
Thanks in advance for your help...
