1973 MKII, standard boom, actually a roller boom that I don't use as a roller boom, just a boom. Mainsheet attachs at the end of boom. Problem: the stainless slide that attachs to the outhaul, a nice looking piece of stainless, much like a carrier that attachs to the corner of the sail and keeps everything tight against the boom. As I was changing the mainsail, it fell off (overboard) and now I attach to the outhaul but have lost the tightness that the carrier provided. Does anyone know what that thing was called and where I can get another? I can still attach my sails, but sometimes the corner rides out of the boom and it isn't as tight to the boom as it should be. Completely my fault, broke my heart as I saw it hit the water and dimmly glitter as it sank from view.
Charles,
Try contacting Mike Lohr. I believes that he signs in as "wigman". In any case he is parting out a boat and may have your part. If you can not find his email let me know.

I found out what the things were called: boom outhaul slides. Go figure huh. Rigrite.com has a really good site for booms, masts, and attachments. But you old salts probably knew that right? It's a good source for just educating yourself about all your rigging (standing). Anyway, good sailing guys, it's great right now in Knoxville, Tenn. USA.
I have a similar problem where the slot of my boom at the clew has spread apart. I am going to try using a velcro to hold it close to the boom and the outhaul pulls it aft.
