Anyone .
Can anyone tell me if all mark III' s had the same motor? I have a markIII hull#878 and would like to know if this is a modification or a factory install.
Thank-you
My boat has an Atomic 4. Diesel became an option in 1978 and then standard toward the end of the Mark III production run; I believe it was initially the single-cylinder Yanmar SYP12 but stand to be corrected. I also understand that the engine was upgraded to the two-cylinder 2GM with the Mark IV.

Thankyou for your comment...
By the Hull # and the paper work My c&c27 is a 1980 construction. This motor could very well be the original... I appreciate your answer...
Kats Paw, a 1980 Mk III, has an Atomic 4 and my Mk IV originally had an Atomic 4. Legacy, a late Mark III, had a YSM 12. Bob Wilson (Legacy's owner, long the pres of the 27 Association and the person who established this website) used to bitch constantly about the noise and vibration that a single-cylinder diesel produced. Many buyers were aware of this problem and took the A4, which remained an option on C&C's until around 83 when (if I recall correctly) new US Coast Guard regulations pretty much killed off gas engines in sailboats.
I don't know that you can do much about the vibration, but I found that sound insulation does a marvellous job of reducing diesel clatter.
