1971 Hinterhoeller built, Tiller - 1986 2 cylinder Yanmar 16 hp diesel engine. Fresh water cooling with heat exchanger. Mint condition with trailer. $ 24,900.00
Call Jamie at 1-519-565-5650 for detailed info on upgrades etc.
Jamie,
Did you sell your Mk I? I have hull #84, would you know which hulls were built by Hinterhoeller?
Any tips on selling?...as I'm finally an almost no choice position, here in Erie, PA.
Thanks,
John

I have Hull # 28 and the tag on the back of the cockpit clearly states that it was built by Hinterhoeller.

Ralph,
Does your hull number start with the ZCC designation? I'm still trying to understand the hull numbering. My builder's file states that the boat was build by Hinterhoeller but I have never paid attention to the tag at the back of the cockpit. Under the definition in Black Arts my "CCY" boat would have been build in Rhode Island which conflicts with both the builders records and the US customs documentation. The US Coast Guard avoided the issue by listing the build location as "unknown" on their documentation.

Before I purchased Billerina, Hull #33, I checked out another C&C 27 which the owner told me was actually a Hinterhoeller (although he called it a C&C in the ad). He stated that only a very few of the first C&C 27's had this distinction. In view of Hyperion being Hull #28 and considered a Hinterhoeller, Billerina must be one of the very first (if not the first) 27s with the C&C plate. This is cool.

Billerina, Hull#33
Went down to Hyperion this morning and checked the nameplate. The info is as follows exactly: Built by Hinterhoeller Ltd. Niagara On The Lake, Ontario Canada. Serial Number CC2728.

Hi Greg and others--
I think that the real "cool" part of all this discussion is that these boats, now 35 years old, are still around, are sailing well and are still giving us owners lots of pleasure !! It's a testimony to their skills as designers and builders but I wonder if Hinterhoeller, Cassian and Cuthbertson ever imagined that they (the boats) would 'live' that long?

Thanks Ralph, Neither a ZCC or a CCY! To Clare's point I agree that the build on this boat is superb. No matter where she was made I must say I love mine.

He called it a C&C 27 because it is. Yachts with pedigrees (as opposed to rubbishy boats and a few built by companies with internal "design teams" such as Sabre and Tartan) are generally referred to by the name of their designers, not the builder. Moreover, by the time the 27 was designed, the people who would become C&C had agreed to become one company. So, yes, some boats were built by the legal entity Hinterhoeller, but that entity was already in the process of becoming the volume division of C&C Yachts. This is made quite clear in the company history published on our site.
