Hi Everyone,
I am new to sailing and just got myself a 85 MK V hull 077 " Coryphena" I have to say that sailing is the greatest thing I have done. I am on Lake of the Woods in Kenora Ontario. Any way, your site is the best, lots of information. I am looking for a dodger for my MK V, or at the least some plans to make one.
If you have any thoughts for a true newbie please feel free. I am planing to join the web site after christmas, thanks, and have a great new year.

Welcome to the club, Jon. Having examined the options, including getting quotes from a sailmaker and a local canvas shop, I eventually decided last summer to have one professionally made by Genco (<A href="http://www.gencomarine.com/">http://www.gencomarine.com</A>) in Toronto. Workmanship was immaculate and self-installation was a breeze, taking no more than an hour, including drilling for the stud-fasteners. You can see it on the Genco site under "dodgers"; it's the first one on the second row of photos (the boat came with a bimini). It was about $1,200 delivered (the sailmaker wanted twice that amount and needed several months to do the job), within a week of having placed the order, which included having the "glass" area maximized. Santiva's a Mark III but I wouldn't imagine the cost of a Mark V dodger would be much different -- and the depths of winter is probably the best time to order.

Congrats. I've got a Mk V also and sail her on nearby Lake Winnipeg. This coming season will be our 3rd with the boat. We love her. She's a nice, fast sailing, lively little boat. Your post just inspired me to get a dodger quote myself.

I think I am going to do the job myself, as I used to work in a boat upholstery shop long ago. I have re-upholstered the cabin, as it was getting tired.
Making the bows is not too hard you just need a pipe bender, but glue some felt inside the bender, so you don't mark the tubes.
