Sails

I have a MK III with the tall mast and my roller furling genoa and my main are both getting very tired. At this point I can't afford new, but I am looking for a couple of used sails that still have some crusing life left in them. If any of you avid racers have something past its racing prime that would work well cruising let me know.

Re: Sails

I don't have anything for sale, but there are a number of companies that specialize in used sails. You might want to try Atlantic Sail Traders in Florida. They have a pretty good reputation and stand behind their sails; while they're terrible (and they admit it!) at responding to e-mail, they're always happy to talk on the phone. Their URL is http://www.usedsails.com and go to "new & used sail inventory" where you'll be able to check out sails by type and size. Their phone number is 800-946-3800. Happy hunting.

Re: Sails

Hi Chris,---- Where are you located?? I have a Haarstick, mylar #1 ( 153%) which is past it's racing prime but would be OK for cruising. The one difficulty may be that the clew is cut fairly low (being a racing sail) so it may not furl as evenly as one cut with a high clew, built specifically for furling. Also , of course , it has no U.V. strip. The luff tape is a #6.

Re: Sails

Hi Clare,
Still me, Chris Phippen in Kingston, still looking. And I guess you didn't sell the sail we spoke about last year. I seem to remember you needed a little more $ than I had to spend. What was the asking price?

Hi Chris.
Asking $625 (Canadian) which is about 25% of replacement cost.
