Spring

I'm all set for a beautiful day of sailing---while out prepping the boat, I reflected on the "Spring ritual" above 40 deg North and the many years of great sailng in the Great Lakes, North channel, Georgan Bay, the Trent Severn (sp), etc.  Warren, myself, et al, in the sub-tropics are preparing for the summer doldrums with wind speeds of 0-50mph (mostly "0") and driving rains that seek out every little leak
The purpose of the post is to wish everyone well---and that you and your crews have a safe and enjoyable season.  Best, Dave

P.S.---I've got my built-in air unit about finished---and have a "carry-on" coleman (forward hatch) unit I'll part with (reasonable).

Re: Spring

Dave,
Over here in Houston we have some nice, if blustery weather.  Yesterday I sailed for about 4 hours with one reef in the main and a small bit of jib out in 16-18 knts. of wind. We all got soaked beating into the nasty chop - but what the heck, it was only 80F.  I will try to enjoy this cool spring weather before summer arrives, we're still relatively dry with humidity only 70% or so.  The water temp is still only 73F so not time for swimming yet!
By the way, what does that A/C unit weigh?  How did you handle it and where did you store it?
Fair winds and good sailing,

Re: Spring

Dave,
Thanks for thinking of us in the more northern latitudes who are just emerging from our hibernation from sailing. Enjoying some  higher than average temps for this time of year (22 degrees celcius/~72farenheit) but still ice in the harbour. Spent Saturday sanding the old hard antifouling build-up off. Pleased I won't have to do that every year! Next Saturday, if Wx holds, I can try my had at finishing up the bottom prep and get her painted with VC17.

Hopefully we can launch in another few weeks.

Happy sailing or launch prepping as applicable.

Cheers,

Robert
