Has anyone installed a cabin heater in their 27. I'm looking at either a Dickinson Solid fuel or Diesel Heater. The force 10 diesel is significantly more expensive given the requirement for a pressurized fuel source.
Can anyone help?
My boat had a Force 10 on it when I bought it, but I took it off and sold it. It was balky, plus it took up a lot of space, not of itself, but you can't get too close to one of those things, so you end up with a fair bit of no-go space in the cabin.
Since then, I've not had need of a heater, but Scalliwag's owner, Bruce Peever, looked at the issue and decided that 95% of probable use was at the dock, so a mini-electric would be easier, cheaper and safer (I have the original version of the "West Marine Cabin Heater", made halfway up Georgian Bay of all places and loaded with safety features). For the other 5%, there's always the flowerpot-over-the-stove-burner trick, which I used on my old boat and which works quite well at anchor. Flowerpots are not as romantic as a Dickinson, but a lot easier and cheaper to install.

Slight correction on Dave's comment. I looked at installing propane stove onboard and decided that it was to large a job for what I required. I found that a hotplate plugged into the A/C circut would meet my requirements. In a similar manner, an electric ceramic heater would satisfy my heating needs.

My apologies for mis-representing you, Bruce. I remember the discussion about stoves here in the Forum, but I could have sworn you told me you'd run through the same mental exercise re: heaters when we talked about upgrading your A/C power on the weekend when you visited RCYC.
