MARKV Steering loss

I have lost steering in 1 direction only.  I have a feeling it is a steering cable connecting the pedestal wheel to the tie rod at the aft connected to the rudder however I have not been able to find any information on this design nor parts that this fix may require.  Can anyone out there help?

my boat being a Mark V and having and external rudder design, the steering mechanism is outboard , quit different than earlier generations

the cable/rod exits the transom and is then attached to the rudder via a simple tie rod end to bracket on the rudder.  This is not hydraulic.

Re: MARKV Steering loss

A couple of years ago the cable on my mk V broke. Had a mechanic replace it -- not a big job -- all readily accessible. You can get replacement cable in most any marine supply store.

PS: Brake occurred while underway. good to have the emergency tiller not stored too deep in the boat.
