Hey All,
I'm on the hunt for new main and #1. I'm planning on new (dacron) - but would be interested in looking at any used options out there. Also planning to add roller furling.
Any recommendations as far as furling gear (I'm looking at Hood, Profurl and Harkin) or sailmakers.
Rob.

Re: roller furling. I added a Hood 707 furler to my Mk V this summer and I am happy with it. My decision was based partly on price. Although I race, I decided against the split drum type furler that allows you to remove the drum to fly racing sails. Several people I talked to who have that type of furler said they never bother to take the drum off anyway. The Hood furler was purchased from Quantum Sails in Toronto and I installed it myself with my wife's help. Not a big deal, but did require two trips to the masthead. Practical Sailor magazine has done a couple of reviews of headsail furlers over the years, including a fairly recent one, but unfortunately they did not review the Hood model I selected. BTW, I also purchased a Pentex laminate triradial #1 from Quantum for the furler and it is a beautiful sail.
