Does anyone have suggestions for paint for the inside of the hull and bilge?

Hi Mike. A friend recently refinished the headliner of his Alberg 29 with Interlux Brightside polyurethane single-part enamel. It looked so good that I've bought a quart to do Santiva's headliner in the spring!

The paint on the inside of my hull looks like plain-jane polyurethane paint (doesn't have the gloss of the marine stuff). Interlux does make a bilge paint that's supposed to be resistant to fuel and other chemicals, but if you keep your boat reasonably clean, it's probably not necessary.
Ken Pole mentions Brightside, which I've found to be a tricky paint. It's essential to sand off the gloss of the surface to be painted or it will pull loose in time (particularly on concave surfaces), but it conforms so closely to surfaces that you have to use a very fine grade of paper or you'll get sanding marks in the finished surface (though this might not be a concern in the bilge). It also sags unpredictably if climatic conditions aren't perfect. The best way to handle it is to roll on a very thin coat, then tip with a dry brush.

My interest in bilge paint is two fold. First, I am concerned with problems associated with water, fuel, etc. standing in the bilge and causing problems with osmosis, rust and electrolysis. But I admit that after 20 years of neglect the damage is mostly done. Since the addition of the PSS the only water in the bilge comes from the icebox, deck leaks or the occational spilled drink. But there is still enough to have a bit of water standing below the bilge pump during the cold months. But my second and primary reason is just trying to get the boat one color. I've always felt that the mark of the restoration is in the details no one ever sees so however impractical...
Ken was kind enough to pass on some photos of his boat when he picked it up. i think his plan to paint the inside of the boat is necessary. It will be interesting to see the final results.
thanks all
