The builder's file for Pura Vida arrived in the mail today. It really is some interesting stuff. She was shipped from Canada on February 13, 1974 the day the Alexander Solzhennitsyn was shipped out of Russia. She cost $12,048 new (trade discount) and came with a whoppin' $452.00 in accessories and optional equipment. A couple of mysteries have been solved. For example the tiny screws in the cockpit sole that were too oddly, but symmetrically, spaced to be an attempt at a repair were intended to mark the location for an aftermarket pedestal. The traveler was placed between the seats for the same purpose (something I have noticed on only a few boats). Now I have to crawl up in the back and see if the quadrant is still there. For some odd reason they had to move the bilge pump. I also have a "moulded boot top" whatever that is. The most interesting list is the US/Canadian parts list for customs valuation. It is a bit cryptic but lists the date the parts were imported into Canada. The single most expensive part, other than the motor is the fuel tank. The Atomic Four serial number was 191291 so every one check and if anyone has it I want it back ;-). The mast is listed as a being for a C&C 35 and the Bow pulpit is for a 39. She shipped to Galveston Bay in '74 so I know she's been through at least one hurricane. </SPAN>
</SPAN>Thanks for letting me ramble about the little boat I have grown so fond of.</SPAN>

Mike,
Check you waterline, there is probably a raised line in the gelcoat to mark it - a "molded boot top". The boot top is the stripe just above the waterline.
How did you get the builder's file?

Helen at South Shore Yachts. $51.00 including freight. Since the 27 was a "stock" boat I was not sure if there would be much in there but I'm getting at least $51 worth of entertainment out of it (cheaper than dinner at the Aquarium). And if I'm reading the requirements I may need the customs paperwork when I document the boat.

Suspicions confirmed! A friend (who is a yacht broker and a C&C owner) once told me the word is that C&C used whatever masts were laying around. Your parts list would confirm that.

Perhaps this explains the rather robust boom on my boat!
