Isabel storm frontIsabel happened just before Juan and caused extensive damage from the Chesapeake to Lake Ontario. Like Juan, Isabel was a Category 2 storm when it was photographed here off Cape Hatteras (it had achieved Category 4 status, but fortunately well out into the Atlantic). Researchers were thrilled by the dramatic and well defined shapes produced by the storm. Sensible people were in all likelihood paralyzed by fear on seeing sights like this. |
