"Santiva's original owner combined the names of two Florida islands, Sanibel and Captiva, into a distinctive name. I was going to rename her (I'm the fourth owner), but I objected to paying for the name change, and my First Mate pressed me to keep the original name.

"Previously at Beaconsfield YC in Montreal and before that in Hamilton, her home port now is on Lac Deschenes, a widening of the Ottawa River in the west end of the capital.

"Originally red, she has been Awlgripped and I'm in the throes of an extensive overhaul, including (my winter project) an engine rebuild."
