"I did this on my MK 2 last year. It works well and is so much more convenient. I was also able to cut off approx. 15" of the boom, which looks so much better.

"I used the teak beam to minimize the number of holes through the bridgedeck. Without the teak beam, it would require bolt holes approx. every 4" for a total of 13 holes as opposed to the 6 I used. I believe the fewer holes the better. The teak beam looks quite attractive, too." – Bob Honsberger
