After installing the rudder, Ralph had second thoughts about the amount of rudder in front of the post and so removed the offending 2".

"I think the rudder looks better with the two inches taken off the leading edge and the taper at the bottom looks better too. I checked the old rudder and came up with a ballpark 620 sq. in area. The new rudder comes out ballpark 670 sq. in."
