Check the connections on the back of your control panel, if power to the panel is loose, or disconnected, that will knock out your blower, starter, gauges, etc. I suspect while you were tossing stuff into the cockpit lockers, you knocked a wire loose.

Good Luck!

Hi all,

Considering shortening the boom on my '73 mkII (oval, roller furling type) by possibly 12-15 inches for a couple of reasons. 1st, I'm 6'8" tall (self explanatory) 2nd to make room for a bimini. Has anyone done this? Any comments, or advice would be appreciated.

Cheers!

Sorry, it has been sold.

Thanks

I have one, which came with my '73 mkII. I have never used it, and it looks in very good shape. Multi coloured, lightweight, crisp. Admittedly, I know very little about these sails, so  let me know if you are interested, and I can take some pics for you.

Thanks

Hey there,

I have been using a 3M product which is a rubbing compound/ wax all in one. I don't remember exactly what it is called off the top of my head, but I believe there are different varieties of grit depending on the level of oxidization. Have been using for the past few seasons, and it does a good job of making the old girl shine like new. A cheap electric car buffer saves a lot of elbow grease!

Hope that helps.

Hi there,

Any chance you have a bimini for your boat that you would sell? Also curious about your sails. I have a '73 MK II, and my main is pretty tired and baggy.

Thanks

Thanks for the link! If I end up replacing all my gauges, I may just contact them as their panels look way nicer than what I made.

Cheers!

I'm in the midst of replacing the original instrument panel on my '73 Mk II with a lexan panel I had my local glass company make. The fuel gauge had a crack all around the plastic housing which broke when I re-installed in the panel. I should be able to fix with epoxy, but am thinking now perhaps just replacing all gauges. Has anyone done this? If so, are there replacements out there that are the same as the originals, or does this involve different wiring, hole size in the panel etc.... Any info would be appreciated.

Cheers
