I don't have access directly above the most forward keel bolt. I have redwood flooring on remainder of floor.
I just put in the boat last Friday. So 2 summers ago, the last time I had it in the water I noticed a small leak at one of the keel bolts. It did not seem to be much concern since I was told this can be common. When I put it in Friday, went below emptied bildge past float, and could not really tell if major water was filling. So Friday the bilge appeared to come on maybe every hour.
Then Saturday, though it rained all night and morning, it was coming on seemed like every 20 min. It had stopped raining at that point.
So now I'm a bit worried as to where it is coming in.
So I've torqued 3 of the 4 keel bolts on my 1974 MKIII. The forth bolt I have no idea how I would get at it since it is forward in the bilge under the floor in a narrow part of the bilge. A torque wrench even if I could get it in the bilge would not have enough room to swing.
Whale in fact does not manufacture this pump nor any parts to service it. Perhaps the previous owner tried to use O rings himself since when I take the faucet out there were 2 o rings in there, however they were broken. Whale did send me an original diagram and it shows there was a cork gasket I guess there.
Alan, thanks for the info, however mine is leaking through where the faucet pushes into the base.
I have a Whale angle freshwater hand pump in my 1975 C&C 27 MKIII
I need O rings since it is leaking. I cannot find the specs anywhere for this pump, it is not manufactured any longer.
Any suggestions?
That is what I thought the block was used for down haul. How is the Padeye used though? It already has a track for a pole?
The previous owner has owned it since 1975, so either he used to have a sym or as you said he used the pole, downhaul etc.... when running direct down or deep?
I've never used any type of spinnaker so is that what you would do it still use a pole on an asymmetrical when deep downwind? If you are using pole you then need downhaul?
I purchased a MKIII late last season. Have not sailed it yet.
Came with a D.R.S, which I understand is a Drifter Reaching Spinnaker? or an asymmetrical Spinnaker. Have not hoisted it since I have not as I said sailed the boat yet.
What I'm confused with is I have 2 poles 1 adj length, i assume is a whisker pole, and another up on the deck, I assume is a spinnaker pole.
There is a track on the mast as well as a pad eye and a block on the deck about 3 feet from the bow.
I'm not sure what the pad eye or block is for or the spinnaker pole since I thought with an asymmetrical a pole is not required.
any comments on how you think all these would be used? link to pics/instructions?
What tension should the forestay and backstay be on MK III? are these adj before or after shrouds?
how much rake should there be without any tension on backstay adj? 6"?
How do I find a 1 1/4" bronze flush thru hull fitting with a flange dia of 3 1/2"
That is what my 1975 MKIII has. I need to replace one
Re 1975 C&C 27 MK III
My companionway hatch needs some work. There are pieces that are rotting
how, what is suggested as replacement? Teak, Mohogany? Is there a way to get replacements out there? How much
Or do I need to get some lumber and mill, shape etc to the correct size etc.....
I live in Ontario, Canada
What is the normal size of Sewage pump pipe? Is 1 1/2 - 2 " normal? Given that a housould sewage pipe is 5" how is such a small size of pipe sufficient to prevent certain 'things' from getting stuck?
OK I am fairly new to sailing, just boat a C&C27 1975
The existing owner says he attaches the boom vang to the toe rail when sailing down wind to prevent accidental Jibe
can the toe rails support this?
