We have a 1980 MK III with a YSM12. With time and still today vary reliable. The only down side of that motor is the noise. We did some insulation for sound and it is better now but diesel is diesel. For the power vs the size of vessel we find it to be well balanced. Parts are still avaiable no problems.

Our Stardust 1980 MK III has a YSM12 the parts are still available no problem. Other than being noisy,it is very reliable. We do most of our sailling in the Northumberland strait deal with the currents and the Atlantic heavy weather (sometimes). That said the motor has shown anought power for these situations.
